Welcome To My Website

Life isn't always straightforward. It can feel overwhelming when you're struggling to cope with difficult choices and feelings on your own.

I create a reflective space where you can gain meaningful insight and self-awareness to make sense of your thoughts and feelings. Together, we explore what may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable to enable positive change.

What I Offer

Counselling and Psychotherapy

I aim to offer a supportive and non-judgemental environment for you to bring whatever it is you feel the need to talk about.

I believe it is important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with in order to build a strong working relationship. I am there to listen to you with empathy and to help you think about your feelings, however difficult they may be and facilitate your personal growth.

Counselling is often more appropriate for shorter term work where you feel stuck and want to look at specific issues that are affecting your day to day living such as work-related issues, relationships, or bereavement.

Psychotherapy often involves longer term work where issues are deep rooted.

Expressive Arts

Art making can provide physical and emotional relief as we express painful and difficult experiences in vivid, tactile materials with the understanding and support of a therapist/artist.

Art(s) Psychotherapist is a protected title and recognised in the UK as a profession allied to medicine and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This means that arts therapists have undertaken extensive, rigorous and authorised training.

Art(s) Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses imagination, art making and creative processes in the context of a therapeutic relationship. In particular art therapy is able to embrace non-verbal and pre-verbal dimensions of existence, providing varied media for their exploration.

Using the imagination allows reconnection to deep dreams and life aspirations as well as insight into deeply held fears, fantasies and negative experiences.

I completed a 4 year registered UKCP and HCPC training in integrative Arts Psychotherapy in 2011.

What To Expect

I offer an initial consultation either in London, Suffolk, or virtually at a mutually convenient time. Sessions are confidential and I work within the BACP, UKCP and HCPC codes of ethics.

My Approach

I work in a client-centred or non-directive way looking at you, the client, as a whole person, and if appropriate will invite you to use your creative instincts to explore and resolve personal issues.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy comes from the personal growth movement. This approach encourages people to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions.

Emphasis is on self-development and achieving one's potential. I work in a client-centred or non-directive way looking at you, the client, as a whole person, and if appropriate will invite you to use your creative instincts to explore and resolve personal issues.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy stresses the importance of the unconscious and past experience in shaping current behaviour.

By exploring significant childhood relationships, we can see the impact they have on your present relationships. We can start to make sense of how unprocessed negative feelings from an earlier relationship may have been projected onto current relationships and are causing you to remain stuck in old attachment patterns.

Sometimes it is helpful to explore how patterns of thinking can impact negatively on emotions and behaviour, preventing us moving forward. Other times relaxation techniques or creative work is most relevant. We decide together what is most appropriate for you.
